Fall is (sort of) here! The leaves are turning, autumnal specials are popping up in every coffee shop and restaurant, and I’m here to share some of my favorite fall things. More specifically, I wanted to share the things that have helped me get into the festive spirit, even though its 85 degrees here in Alabama.
While it certainly isn’t time to accessorize in scarves and hats (like I wish I could), I’ve been using a few trendy fall accessories to give my outfits that seasonal touch, without overheating.
I’ve been in a ColourPop kind of a mood. I’ve been obsessed with the Yes, Please! palette because the colors are PERFECT for any fall look, and so versatile! I love that with one palette I can do both subtle natural looks and bold ones.
Food & Drinks
The biggest bummer about avoiding dairy is the elimination of all of Starbucks’ seasonal drinks! I had no idea that the Pumpkin Spice Latte and the Peppermint Mocha both have condensed milk in the syrups. So I’ve had to come up with a few creative alternatives. My favorite is the Caramel Apple Spice, with no whipped cream or caramel drizzle (insider tip: my super nice barista told me to just order a steamed apple juice with cinnamon dolce syrup – it’s the same drink, but less expensive!). Another favorite is a simple iced latte with almond milk and the cinnamon dolce syrup. Brindon’s go-to is an Iced Latte Machiato with almond milk, which he says is so thick and creamy, you don’t even notice that it’s not actually milk.
TV & Books
This time of year, I love to read books and watch TV shows that have that fall vibe. Classics are the Harry Potter series (of course) and Gilmore Girls. This time I’ve actually been reading the illustrated Harry Potter books, and they’re amazing. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Prisoner of Azkaban. I’ve also been enjoying some new shows this fall, including Big Love and Riverdale. Big Love is definitely not a new show, but I’d never seen it before and I’m OBSESSED. I binged the first season of Riverdale this summer, and I’ve practically been counting down the days until the season premiere (it’s finally here!! so good!). Cheryl Blossom’s style is everything!
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of my fall favorites, and I really hope fall weather comes to Birmingham soon!
Thanks for reading!
